MANILA - The Lopez Group on Thursday said 3 of its companies bagged big wins at the Asia Sustainability Reporting (ASR) Rating 2018 in Bandar Lampung, Sumatra, Indonesia.

In a statement, the Lopez Group said 3 of its companies brought home recognition from the ASR 2018 held by the National Center for Sustainability Reporting (NCSR), in collaboration with the Institute of Certified Sustainability Practitioners (ICSP).

First Philippine Holdings (FPH) was awarded the platinum rank, while its subsidiary, First Gen Corp bagged the silver rank. Meanwhile, the Energy Development Corp was awarded with a gold rank, the statement said.

The ASR Rating is conferred to companies that have successfully communicated their sustainability performance to stakeholders through sustainability reports.

“The recognitions awarded to the First Philippine Holdings, First Gen Corporation, and Energy Development Corporation validate the extensive efforts we have been putting into ensuring we have sustainable operations,” FPH Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Federico Lopez said.

“Climate change is the biggest threat to humanity, and sustainability has been weaved into our business operations, as we do our part in mitigating the effects of climate change," he said.

FPH has interests energy, property, construction, and energy services. Its subsidiary, First Gen, owns and operates 22 power plants across the country with a total of 3,471 megawatts of capacity. EDC is the largest producer of geothermal energy in the country.
