Businessman Ramon Ang led efforts to round up some of Singapore’s businessmen to meet with President Duterte during his state visit to the city state.
The confirmation came from Duterte himself, as he opened his speech to the business group at Jurong Ballroom, Shangri La.
“I would like to start by expressing appreciation to Mr. Ramon Ang and San Miguel Corporation and Petron for organizing this business call with all of you," he said.
"I appreciate this opportunity to tell you of the many developments in the Philippines and to invite Singapore businesses to partner with us as we pursue the development of innovative, job generating and inclusive growth in my country.”
The Chief Executive thanked the Singapore business community for doing business in the Philippines.
“We appreciate that Singapore, our largest trading partner and our largest source of investments from ASEAN. We are also encouraged that there is increasing presence of Filipino and Singaporean companies in our two countries, respectively. As the Philippines pursues sustainable growth and development, inclusive growth that are [unclear] even stronger participation of Singaporean and Singapore-based companies in investments in my country," he said.
The President acted as a salesman and pitched the Philippines as an investment destination.
“We invite you to join us and partner with us as we continue to grow the economy because much work still needs to be done.”
