MANILA, Philippines - City of Dreams Manila opened its doors on Sunday afternoon, becoming the second casino-resort to operate at Pagcor's Entertainment City in Paranaque.
However, the integrated casino-resort only had a soft opening, without the usual glitz and fanfare. City of Dreams Manila is scheduled to have a grand launch early next year -- before the Chinese New Year which falls on February 19, 2015.
On its Facebook page, City of Dreams Manila gave a sneak preview of what to expect.
There is a shuttle service from the NAIA 1 and 2, as well as various SM malls to City of Dreams Manila. (List can be found here.)
City of Dreams Manila is being developed by Melco Crown (Philippines) Resorts Corporation, a joint venture of Macau casino giant Melco and SM-led Belle Corp.
City of Dreams Manila is set to have three hotels -- Crown Towers hotel, the first-ever Nobu Hotel and a Hyatt hotel, as well as ultra-luxe nightclubs Pangaea and Chaos. It will also have DreamWorks Animation's first education-inspired play center called DreamPlay by DreamWorks.
The opening of the new casino is expected to boost Entertainment City, which is envisioned as Manila's version of the Las Vegas Strip. Enrique Razon-led Solaire Casino & Resort is already open, while Bayshore City Resorts World of Andrew Tan's Travellers International Hotel Group and Manila Bay Resorts of Japanese billionaire Kazuo Okada are also being developed.
