MANILA - The Philippine Stock Exchange will honor companies that help educate investors when it mounts the sixth edition of its Bell Awards for the best in corporate governance, an official of the exchange said.
In determining which company has the best retail investor program, the PSE will look at marketing materials as well as social media engagement, said PSE assistant vice president for corporate planning and investor relations John Benette Mamañgun.
"Do they engage, do they respond quickly?" he said.
"Investors in general, including the retail ones, are able to realize how important good corporate governance is and how this can actually affect not just the profits but the abilities of companies to operate over longer periods of time," he said.
Looking after the welfare of investors is one of the strengths of the most enduring companies, Mamañgun said.
