MANILA — Several malls offered the public free shelter and waived overnight parking fees as typhoon Tisoy lashed vast swaths of Luzon with fierce winds and rains.
Ayala, SM, Robinsons and Megaworld Lifestyle malls announced their free overnight parking on their respective Facebook accounts.
The public can also access waiting areas and restrooms at Ayala malls beyond its operating hours, it said.
Robinsons and Megaworld said they would offer free WiFi access.
Tisoy (international name: Kammuri) made landfall on Monday night in Bicol region, where it damaged the Legazpi Airport, sent tens of thousands to evacuation centers and left at least 3 injured.
Throughout Tuesday, the typhoon will pass south of the capital, which is home to some 13 million people and host to thousands of athletes competing in the Southeast Asian Games, the weather bureau said.
