PANGLAO, Bohol -- AirAsia said Tuesday it was considering mounting international flights out of the New Bohol Airport.
Potential routes include Taipei and Macau, with the carrier targeting "anything within 4 hours" of the new terminal that was inaugurated Tuesday, AirAsia Philippines President Dexter Comendador said.
“Anything within 4 hours [of travel] is our target,” he said.
AirAsia may also mount flights from Manila to Osaka, South Korea, and China in the near future, he said. He did not say when the routes might open.
Before the New Bohol Airport was opened, AirAsia operated domestic flights from the Tagbilaran Airport in the same province.
Asia’s largest budget carrier is also targeting to increase the frequency of its Manila-Bohol-Manila flights from 3 times daily to 5 times a day, Comendador said.
The airline will base one plane in the Panglao gateway to make it a secondary hub, he said.
AirAsia is Bohol’s official airline partner.
