MANILA - Megaworld Corp. said Tuesday it would build a commercial center in Bacolod City as it expands in the Visayas region.
Megaworld said the 7.5-hectare commercial development will house dining, retail, leisure and tourism amenities within the Northill Gateway township in Negros Occidental.
The town center is the first-ever commercial development along the Bacolod-Silay Airport Access Road, Megaworld told the stock exchange.
"This development will be a refreshing take of the brand of 'lifestyle mall' Megaworld is offering in its various townships that is now accessible to the people of Negros Occidental," Kevin Tan, senior vice president and head of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, said in a statement.
Construction will start early next year and is expected to be completed by early 2018.
Megaworld earlier said it would invest P35 billion in the next 10 years to develop Northill Gateway and The Upper East, another upcoming township near the city center of Bacolod.
