MANILA -- Philippine Telephone and Telegraph Corp said Monday it questioned before the Supreme Court its disqualification from the bidding for the country's third telco slot, which was won by China Telecom and Davao businessman Dennis Uy.

A petition for certiorari was filed before the Supreme Court last Friday to "assail" PT&T's disqualification from the selection, the company told the stock exchange.

Acting Information and Communications Technology Sec. Eliseo Rio earlier said PT&T was disqualified for failure to produce a certification of 10 years experience.

Another bidder, the Sear consortium was disqualified for failure to pay a P700-million participation bond. This left only one bidder, Uy and China Telecom's Mislatel.
