MANILA -- The House of Representatives will approve the P3.76 trillion 2019 national budget next week, giving the Senate enough time to pass it before the end of the year, a lawmaker pushing for the measure said Monday.
The House plenary is expected to pass the General Appropriations Act of 2019 on third and final reading on Nov. 28, said Compostela Valley Rep. Maria Carmen Zamora, vice chairperson of the House Appropriations Committee.
"We’re at the final stages of reconciling differences and amendments to the budget, and after that we need to get the budget printed," Zamora told ABS-CBN News in a text message.
Senators earlier called on the House to transmit the budget to them.
House Majority Leader Rolando Andaya Jr on Sunday said the budget would be forwarded to the Senate after "rigorous double-checking and verification."
“We believe that we all have sufficient time in our legislative calendar to pass the budget and send it to President Duterte before the end of the year," he said.
