MANILA -- Governor Nestor Espenilla said the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas will be open for clearing and settlement Tuesday, despite the city-wide holiday for Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit.
Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada suspended work on Tuesday while traffic will also be rerouted for Xi. The Supreme Court suspended work in the city's courts.
"BSP will be open for clearing and settlement and other market support services in spite of Manila holiday tom. So financial markets should remain open," Espenilla said.
It will be Xi's first state visit to the Philippines. President Rodrigo Duterte, who reset diplomatic ties with China, was on a state visit to Beijing in October 2016.
