MANILA—The Department of Agriculture and Ayala Malls on Saturday launched TienDa Farmers and Fisherfolks Outlets in Davao City.

The project aims to sell fruits, vegetables, rice, and other agricultural and fish products from farms all over the country direct to customers and without the intervention of middlemen.

"I would like to thank the Ayala (family) kasi the activity sponsored by (them) kumpletuhin ko na lang. I would like to thank them for their social conscience, corporate conscience to help the Filipino people," President Rodrigo Duterte said in a press briefing during the project launch.

"Were it not for their vision to create another beautiful city which is now Makati, what could have been the developments by then? There’s no doubt about it, they’re imbued by the sense of responsibility sa kapwa tao nila," he earlier said in a speech.

Ayala Corp. chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala attended the launch along with Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol.
