Corporations pledge support for 'Yolanda' victims

MANILA – Several corporations pledged their support for the relief efforts for the victims of super typhoon “Yolanda.”

San Miguel Corporation (SMC), through Philippine Airlines (PAL), Petron, and San Miguel Brewery Inc., helped by airlifting supplies and relief goods, and establishing temporary service stations to ensure reliable fuel supply.

SM Group will allot P100 million to rebuild homes, community centers, schools, and churches, and provide food and supplies to the affected areas.

SM also launched "Operation Tulong Express" to accept donations in SM malls. BDO and Chinabank will also accept cash donations.

Jollibee Foods Corporation, meanwhile, is accepting through Jollibee Group Foundation (JGF) coin banks in over 2,000 JFC stores nationwide. These stores include Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Mang Inasal and Burger King.

China Banking Corporation (China Bank) also opened an account (savings account # 203-365071-3) for cash or check donations. Proceeds of the donation drive will be turned over to the Philippine National Red Cross.

Citi Foundation has pledged a P10 million disaster relief grant to the American Red Cross Pacific Typhoon Fund, as well as fund raising efforts for Philippine Red Cross.

Aboitiz Foundation also raised P30 million from actress Sharon Cuneta and the Union Bank of the Philippines for the relief efforts.

The foundation has transported relief packs and hygiene kits to 6,500 families in the affected areas in Cebu.
