MANILA - Government workers will start receiving their year-end bonus after the ASEAN Summit next week, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said on Wednesday.
Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said all qualified government employees will receive their year-end bonus tax-free, which is equivalent to their one-month basic salary starting Nov. 16.
Apart from the year-end bonus, more than 1.3 million public sector employees will also get a P5,000 cash gift.
Diokno said the Duterte administration has allotted P32.84 billion for the bonuses and another P6.93 billion for the cash gifts.
Government workers qualify for the year-end bonus and cash gift if they have served at least four months, including leaves of absence with pay from January 1 to October 31, and are still employed as of October 31.
Last year, former President Benigno S. Aquino III signed Executive Order No. 201 granting a mid-year bonus equivalent to one-month basic salary in May and a year-end bonus and cash gift in November.
