MANILA -- Electronic ticketing, QR code-capable turnstiles and flat screens displaying departure time await commuters in the capital's south, where the government built a transport hub that feels like an airport.

The 75,000-square meter Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange or PITX also has floor-to-ceiling glass windows and rows of cushioned seats for the estimated 200,000 passengers that will use it daily, according to its builder, Megawide.

President Rodrigo Duterte inaugurated the PITX, dubbed as the country's first "landport" last Monday, ahead of its full opening. It will serve as a transfer point between provincial and in-city public utility vehicles.

Commuter buses from Cavite and Batangas can end their trips at PITX, from which, passengers can transfer to jeepneys, buses, taxis and UV Express vans, said Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman Martin Delgra.

The PITX hopes to make transferring between modes of transport easier, said Louie Ferrer, president of Megawide subsidiary MWM Terminals.

"Mageenjoy sila dito sa PITX kasi hindi na sila mahihirapan katulad nung before na kahit umulan, nahihirapan, basang basa sila ngayon nandito sila sa comfortable environment," Ferrer told ABS-CBN News.

The "world class facility" was also designed to accommodate senior citizens and person with disability, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said.

It also has shower rooms and a breastfeeding area. A Supermarket, retail outlets and restaurants will also be available, Ferrer said.

Megawide will roll out many different technologies in phases as the terminal starts to operate, Ferrer said. Choosing PUV seats will be like choosing a cinema seat.

Each ticket will contain the passenger's travel details similar to a boarding pass. Aside from the gate number, departure time and fare, it also has a QR code that will be used to pass through turnstiles.

Online booking will be available soon and the management is already looking at a mobile app, Ferrer said.

"Yung vision natin is engineering a first world Philippines so anything that’s good business pero nakatulong ka sa Pilipino, 'yun 'yung vision ng Megawide," he said.
