MANILA - Gaming firm PhilWeb Corp. said Monday it can again offer its services to online gaming sites after getting accredited by the government's gambling regulator.
In a disclosure to the stock exhange, PhilWeb said the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR) has accredited it as an electronic gaming system service provider.
"As an Accredited EGS Service Provider, PhilWeb Corporation can offer its software and other services to the operators of PAGCOR-licensed gaming sites for electronic games." the company said.
PhilWeb president Dennis O. Valdes said he was hoping to win back 120 independent gaming operators that used to work with Philweb.
PAGCOR did not renew PhilWeb's license in 2016 after President Rodrigo Duterte blasted online gaming and branded PhilWeb's then-chairman Roberto Ongpin as an oligarch that his administration will destroy.
This led Ongpin to sell his shares in PhilWeb to businessman Gregorio Araneta III for P2 billion.
