MANILA – Google Inc. will continue to hire employees for its office in the Philippines as its remains confident on the country’s economic growth.
Julian Persaud, Google Southeast Asia managing director, said the tech giant will continue expanding its Manila office, which was opened in January last year.
“We very positive about the Philippines. From a marketing perspective and from an investor’s perspective, Google is very bullish on the Philippines that’s why we continue hiring people,” Persaud said.
He said Google is aware of the importance of the Philippine market in Asia, highlighting Filipinos’ willingness to adapt to new technologies.
“We’re very pleased with the progress, and we’re excited about the opportunities in the Philippines because we know it’s an important market for the region. It’s [Philippines] still very solid in terms of its growth rates in much several areas, and in terms of consumer adoptions,” he said.
Google did not say, however, how many employees they plan to hire in the near future.
Persaud earlier said its Google Philippines operations will allow the firm to better engage with local users, partners and advertisers.
"We're not here for short-term gain. We're here in Manila for the long term,” he said.
The Google Philippines office is located in Makati City.
