MANILA -- The government reopened the Manila to Davao passenger shipping route with 2GO Group, giving travelers a cheaper option to shuttle between the 2 cities, officials said.
The 2GO vessel, St. Michael the Archangel, will service the route which was unavailable for 10 years, the DOTr said in a statement. It was inaugurated on Sunday.
"The re-opening of the passenger shipping operations in the Manila-Davao route and vice versa is a most welcome development. The revival of this route under the administration of President Duterte will help spur economic growth in Mindanao," Finance Sec. Carlos Dominguez said on Twitter.
Also on Sunday, authorities inaugurated the new passenger terminal building at Sasa Port to provide more comfort to passengers, the DOTr said.
