MANILA—Electronic manufacturing firm Cal-Comp Technology Inc. said it has partnered with SM Supermalls to roll out the country's "first" customer service robot next year.
In a statement released Wednesday, October 24, Cal-Comp said its in-mall New Era AI Robotic Service will debut at SM Megamall in the first quarter of 2019.
The English-speaking robot will answer questions and help customers find their way around the mall. Screens and speakers will provide real-time and "seamless" service with the help of artificial intelligence, the statement said.
"Our smart service robot’s speech capabilities will hopefully make the shopping experience more convenient for everyone, and provide the needed assistance to mall guests of all ages,” Cal-Comp Technology and NKG CEO Simon Shen said.
The service robot has smart voice and facial detection capabilities that can be used in retail, convenience store, healthcare and finance, the statement said.
“In pursuit of bringing family fun experiences for all, SM is excited to bring to customers another fun innovation that aims to transform shopping and retail experiences in the country,” SM Supermalls chief operating officer Steven Tan said.
Cal-Comp Technology, which produces calculators, keyboards, LEDs, hard drives and high-end appliances, is the local arm of conglomerate New Kinpo Group.
