MANILA, Philippines - A mini grocery store and a culinary services firm in Pasig were padlocked by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for tax deficiencies.

The BIR said in a statement it closed down Shutter Speed Merchandise Mini-Stop Convenience Store and Decadence Culinary Services in Ortigas for their failure to pay the correct income and value-added (VAT) taxes in the last 2 years.

Decadence Culinary owes the government P1.62 million in VAT taxes, inclusive of increments, while Shutter Speed has a VAT deficiency of P4.8 million.

The twin closures were the 6th and 7th under BIR's Oplan Kandado project during the leadership of BIR Commissioner Kim Henares.
