MANILA – SKY on Thursday launched its SKY On Demand Box, which enables access to HD cable TV and streaming from Netflix and YouTube all through one device.
The box that combines cable TV, Netflix and YouTube together simplifies online viewing for Filipinos who still enjoy watching content on TV, SKY’s Product Head for Cable TV Joy Lantin said.
“In SKY we always want to be in the forefront of innovation so we really know that this product will change the way Filipinos watch their content on the big screen,” Lantin said.
With the SKY On Demand Box, subscribers can enjoy premium channels such as HBO, Cinemax, Fox Sports, Food Network Asia, and Discovery as well as exclusive channels on SKY Cable such as Cinema One and Metro Channel on their TV.
Users can switch to streaming with just a “a press of a button” using built-in access on the remote control.
Local and foreign cable shows are also available using the SKY On Demand app on the new box. The On Demand Box Remote app, available in the App Store and Google Play, enables subscribers to stream cable channels and do private listening.
“The new SKY On Demand Box simplifies this viewing experience for Filipinos by enabling content preferences to be accessible on TV using just one device,” SKY Business Unit Head of Consumer Product Group Claudia Suarez said.
Its built-in apps also enable subscribers to enjoy the many benefits of SKY On Demand such as the multi-function personal video recorder (PVR) feature to avoid missing their favorite shows and the new picture in picture (PIP) mode that allows monitoring a different show while watching another channel on the same TV.
SKY said its latest product shows that “the company is putting effort to address the evolving entertainment needs of subscribers who have a strong preference for watching from the big screen.”
“We are constantly innovating so we can give our SKY Kapamilyas a convenient and high quality viewing experience whether on cable or online streaming services,” Suarez said.
The SKY On Demand Box is initially available in Metro Manila for P1,999.
