MANILA - CEMEX Holdings Philippines Inc (CHP) on Thursday said its subsidiary SOLID Cement Corp has partnered with China's CBMI Construction Co Ltd for its integrated cement plant in Antipolo City.

The project includes the procurement, construction, and installation of a new integrated cement production line at SOLID cement plant in Rizal, which could expand production output by 1.5 million metric tons per year, CHP told the stock exchange.

As of October 2018, the estimated investment in the new cement production line is estimated at $235 million, CHP said.

The company said once the project is completed, it would represent a 26-percent increase in CHP's cement capacity in the Philippines.

CEMEX said the line is expected to start its operations by the fourth quarter of 2020.

In an exclusive interview with ANC's The Boss in July, CEMEX president and CEO Ignacio Mijares said it was looking at boosting cement production as the government’s P8-trillion infrastructure program fuels the demand and provides expansion opportunities for cement manufacturing.
