MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte told businessmen Thursday of his administration’s commitment in battling corruption, saying he is even willing to cut short Cabinet meetings just to listen to traders’ problems.
Duterte said he would set aside time for meetings with businessmen as long as their concerns are related to corruption.
“I will give you the space. I will even cut a Cabinet meeting just to hear you out,” Duterte said in a speech during the 45th Philippine Business Conference and Expo.
The President also urged investors to help the government curb corruption, saying he “badly” needs the help of the business sector.
“Sinasabi ko sa inyo na katulong ko kayo (I am telling you that we are in this together). I cannot succeed no matter how even if I fire or dismiss everyday as I did as I’ve been doing for the last so many months pag di kayo tumulong sa akin (if you don’t help me),” he said.
“I need badly the cooperation of the business sector,” he added.
