MANILA – Free LRT-2 rides for students was adjusted following the shortened revenue operations of the train line, the Light Rail Transit Authority said Thursday.
Since Oct. 8, students could only avail of free rides from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, the LRTA said in an advisory.
The Department of Transportation in June offered free LRT-2, MRT-3, the PNR rides to students during weekday rush hours or between 4:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4:40 p.m.
“Schedule of free rides in the morning will resume once the full operation of the LRT-2 system is restored,” the advisory said.
Partial operations of the train line was implemented Tuesday, servicing passengers between Cubao and Recto stations. Operations were suspended earlier after a fire damaged a section of the train system between the Anonas and Katipunan stations.
The line is expected to resume its full operations after 9 months.
