MANILA, Philippines - As part of efforts to improve collections, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) padlocked two business establishments in Pasig City for not paying the correct taxes.

The BIR shut down Sentosa Park Property Development Corp. and Control and Analytical Laboratory Inc. (CALI) on October 5.

Sentosa failed to pay the correct income tax and value-added tax amounting to P7.49 million while CALI incurred a VAT deficiency of P1.5 million, according to the BIR.

Revenue District Officer Luis Alberto Jr. said that the 2 firms will remain closed until they have paid their tax deficiencies.

The closures were the 4th and 5th under the Oplan Kandado program of the current BIR leadership.

Meanwhile, the BIR just filed charges against Ren Transport Corp., a garbage collection and disposal contractor of 4 local government units in Metro Manila, for failing to pay taxes amounting to nearly P300 million.
