MANILA - Millennials may be taking over the Philippine workforce, but they need more than social media savvy to land a job in an increasingly competitive market, a recruitment firm head said Thursday.
Talents get hired not just for being adept at technology, they also need to be confident, creative and well-adjusted. They also need to possess good communication skills and critical thinking, said Asia Select president Gilbert Camasura.
“People just don’t fail because they lack skills in communications, it’s a combination of other things, technology, service delivery where we need the talents to upscale better,” he said.
Millennials, or those aged 15 to 34 years old, account for 47 percent of the workforce, according to government data. The age group, according to Asia Select, relies heavily on social media, including recruitment website LinkedIn.
“The recruitment landscape is changing with younger workforce who have better skills than before,” he said.
