MANILA - Cemex Holdings Philippines (CHP) on Friday said its subsidiaries continue to operate their cement plants despite the suspension of the quarry operations of their principal raw material suppliers.

In a letter to the stock exchange, Cemex said its subsidiaries APO Cement Corp. in Cebu and SOLID Cement Corp in Antipolo continue to operate even though the suspension order of its primary raw material supplier, APO Land Quarry Corp (ALQC), remains.

Both plants "continue to operate their respective plants and are implementing various measures designed to maintain availability of products to its customers," CHP told the stock exchange.

Cemex earlier disclosed that it had no direct or indirect stake in ALQC.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) earlier suspended quarrying operations in at least 6 regions following fatal landslides in Itogon, Benguet and Naga City, Cebu.

The ban was lifted on Thursday. However, the operations of APO Land Quarry Corp in Naga City, Cebu remain suspended.
