MANILA - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board said Thursday it ordered Uber to stop charging extra for trips that pass through toll gates.
The regulator also ordered the ride-sharing service to explain the toll surcharge in writing.
Last December, Uber said the surcharge was needed to "make sure that partner-drivers are able to cover for their costs in a sustainable manner."
Uber was suspended for almost a month in August for defying an order against registering new drivers. It resumed operations after paying a nearly P500-million fine.
