MANILA - Jollibee Foods Corp said Monday it welcomed British Ambassador to the Philippines Daniel Pruce to its 1,000th store, in a boost to its plan to expand to the United Kingdom.

The Philippines' largest fastfood operator is reportedly in talks for a stake in British sandwich chain Pret a Manger, as it seeks to establish its presence in Europe.

The visit from Pruce, who assumed office earlier this year, was a "show of support" for Jollibee's plans in the UK, the company said on its Facebook page.
