MANILA – Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol on Monday said Jason Aquino is still the National Food Authority (NFA) administrator until Lt. Gen. Rolando Bautista takes over in mid-October or until President Rodrigo Duterte says otherwise.
Aquino asked to be replaced after the agency got flak over the NFA rice supply crisis, which contributed to higher inflation.
Duterte on Sept. 16 said he was thinking of appointing the retiring Army chief as the new National Food Authority (NFA) administrator.
“He (Duterte) has identified Gen. Rolly Bautista but he does not retire until mid-October so effectively, Jason Aquino is still NFA administrator until Rolly Bautista retires and takes over the NFA and I don’t have any problem with that,” Piָñol said in a press briefing.
Piñol said the statements of some senators regarding Aquino's tenure were "quite inaccurate."
“So 'yung statement ng senators natin na pinapabalik ko raw si Jason Aquino is not quite accurate because while he has offered to leave his post, the President has not found a replacement for him," he said.
