MANILA, Philippines - While Manila Water is raising its rates, Maynilad Water Services Inc. is lowering its rates next month.

Maynilad, the concessionaire for the west zone, will have a lower foreign currency differential adjustment of P0.09 per cubic meter.

"The FCDA for the 4th quarter of 2012 is negative 0.19% of the average basic charge of P32.92/cubic meter or negative P0.06/cubic meter," the company said.

Lifeline customers (10 cubic meters and below a month), will have a P0.22 centavo reduction in their monthly water bill. For average housholds consuming 30 cubic meters per month, reduction is P1.66 on their monthly water bill.

The lower rates will take effect 15 days after publication tomorrow. The downward adjustment will be applied to October consumption, and reflected in the November water bill.
