MANILA -- (UPDATE) SM, Robinsons and Ayala Malls said they would waive overnight parking fees Friday in areas that could be hit by Typhoon Ompong (Mangkhut).
SM City Tarlac, SM Megacenter Cabanatuan, SM City Cabanatuan in Nueva Ecija and SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown in Cagayan will not charge overnight parking fees on Friday, SM said in a Twitter post.
"In areas where severe flooding is experienced, we provide parking spaces for residents," it said.
Robinsons Metro East, Robinsons Place Cainta, Robinsons Place Tuguegarao, Robinsons Place Ilocos, Robinsons Place Santiago, Robinsons Starmalls Pampanga, Robinsons Angeles, Robinsons Place Malolos, Robinsons Place Pangasinan and Robinsons Mall Malabon will offer free overnight parking spaces during times of flooding, according to its Facebook page.
Ayala Malls encouraged customers to take shelter inside their vicinity in cases of extreme weather and flooding on Friday, Sept. 14. Designated waiting areas will be accessible beyond mall hours while overnight parking fees are waived.
Megaworld said overnight parking fees in some of its malls were also waived while stranded individuals could take shelter in Southwoods Mall in Laguna, Eastwood City mall in Quezon City, Venice Grand Canal in McKinley Hill, Lucky Chinatown in Binondo and Uptown Bonifacio in Taguig where lounges, charging ports and Wi-Fi are available.
Ompong is expected to make landfall in Cagayan-Isabela area on Saturday, packing maximum sustained winds of P205 kph with 255 kph gusts.
