PDIC: 10,000 EIB account holders yet to file claims

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC) is urging depositors of the closed Export and Industry Bank (EIB) to file their claims. 

According to the PDIC, more than 10,000 EIB account holders have not yet filed their claims. EIB was closed last April for insolvency. 

Of the bank's 46,134 deposit accounts, PDIC has paid claims for 34,226 accounts or 94.7% of the total filed claims of 36,153 as of August 9. The total number of paid claims includes payments made to 21,348 valid accounts with balances of not more than P10,000. 

Depositors whose account balances had P10,000 or less and who have not received their checks are encouraged to call telephone numbers (02) 841-4630 or (02) 841-4631, or e-mail [email protected] mailto:[email protected] (Attention: Ms. Tess Salcor or Ms. Joan de Leon). 

PDIC will continue to receive deposit insurance claims until April 28, 2014 either through mail or personally at the PDIC Claims Counter, 4th Floor, SSS Bldg., Ayala Ave. corner V.A. Rufino St.  Makati City. PDIC will receive claims from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
