MANILA - The House of Representatives on Monday approved a bill seeking to allow mobile phone subscribers to keep their numbers even after switching service providers.
House Bill 7652, or the "Mobile Number Portability" bill was unanimously passed by Congress on third and final reading yesterday.
The bill says telcos must provide nationwide mobile number portability to all qualified subscribers free of charge. Erring telcos may be fined up to P1 million and their license revoked.
The National Telecommunications Commission is tasked with the implementation of the law's provisions.
