MANILA - Now Corp said its unit NOW Telecom secured an extension of authority to operate as a telecommunications provider from the National Telecommunications Commission.
The NTC extended NOW Telecom's authority to install, operate and maintain a telecommunications network, including mobile, data, voice, trunked radio dispatch communications system, digital and trunked radio system, its parent company told the stock exchange.
The authority includes the upgrade of its systems nationwide, NOW Corp said.
"We reiterate our belief that at present, there is an insufficiency in telecommunications facilities that can effectively address the needs for day-to-day real time operations and at the same time provide disaster mitigation during time of emergencies," NOW Telecom president Rodolfo Pantoja said.
NOW Telecom also earlier announced its pivot to 5G.
