MANILA, Philippines - Transport groups PASANG MASDA and ACTO have asked the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to provisionally grant its request for a P0.50 hike in jeepney fares.
PASANG MASDA president Roberto Martin claims they have an existing 'gentleman's agreement' with LTFRB chairman Jaime Jacob, that if diesel prices touch P45 per liter, they should be given a provisional increase.
"Kanya ito ang hinihiling kay Chairman Jacob na itong ifafile naming ito with prayer of P0.50 as provisional yung muna ang i-grant, at kung magpapatuloy pa rin ang pagtataas ng presyo, itutuloy pa namin ang main petition," Martin said.
Apart from the provisional increase, the group is asking to raise the minimum fare to P10. The current minimum rate is P8.
