Local stocks end week in the red

MANILA, Philippines - Local stocks were sluggish on Friday, mirroring Asian markets, following a lackluster session on Wall Street overnight.

Traders said investors have grown more concerned about the recovery of the US economy.

At the close of trading, the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index fell 2.88 points or 0.1% to 3,592.86.

The broader all-share index declined 1.13 points or 0.05% to 2,268.41.

Decliners beat gainers, 92 to 33, while 39 issues were unchanged.

A total of 696.86 million shares worth P4.6 billion were traded.
