PAL names new independent board member

MANILA, Philippines - Flag carrier Philippine Airlines on Thursday named Alberto D. Lina as a new member of the board of directors.

PAL said Lina joined the 15-man board as an independent director.

The other  members of the board are: Lucio C. Tan, Harry C. Tan, Antonio L. Alindogan, Jr., Jaime J. Bautista, Charles C. Chante, Enrique Cheng, Joseph T. Chua, Gloria Tan-Climaco, Estelito P. Mendoza, Cesar N. Santos, Henry So Uy, Washington SyCip, Lucio K. Tan, Jr. and Michael G. Tan.

PAL owner Lucio C. Tan was reelected chairman and chief executive officer, while Harry C. Tan remained vice chairman and treasurer.

Jaime J. Bautista was also reappointed PAL president and chief operating officer.

"Bert Lina's experience in air travel and logistics solutions will hopefully provide a fresh perspective at how we can address current challenges," said Bautista.

Aside from his duties as PAL director, Lina operates his own companies, including Airfreight 2100 Inc., U-Freight, Cargohaus, LGC Logistics, and Mail & More.
