MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Finance (DoF) has announced that it will begin to file cases against erring officials and personnel within the agency and its attached agencies such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and Bureau of Customs (BoC).

Finance chief Cesar Purisima said this is under the department's Revenue Integrity Protection Program.

"We have a preliminary list of these individuals. We are just making sure we are doing due diligence," Purisima said.

Purisima has repeatedly said that unscrupulous activities are able to thrive either because of inefficiency or worse, connivance on the part of officials and personnel.

The Department of Finance is conducting a '"3-legged" campaign in an effort to crack the whip on delinquent tax payers, smugglers, and erring personnel.
