MANILA - The Department of Tourism said on Wednesday that it is looking to tap international shows and films, as well as "influencers", for a branding campaign program next year.
The DOT said it plans to spend about P1 billion, or a third of its proposed 2018 budget for the program.
This will include P250 million for "strategic global presence and partnerships", including "global influencers".
“Component lang siya, pero not limited to social media influencers. We are also looking at personalities who influence travelers in a world-wide scale. Ex. Anthony Bourdain for Gourmet. G. Nery for free diving. Bruno Mars, etc,” Tourism Undersecretary Kat de Castro said said in a text message.
The DOT presented its proposed budget for 2018 on Wednesday to the House Appropriations Committee.
The total budget of the department plus attached agencies is about P3.3 billion, representing a 31.7 percent increase from the 2017 budget of P2.5 billion.
