MANILA -- The government spent P352.7 billion on infrastructure in the January to June period, up 42 percent from the same period in 2017, Budget Secretary Benjamin Diokno said Wednesday.
Road projects by the Department of Public Works and Highways helped drive infrastructure spending in the first half, which was also 4 percent above target, Diokno told reporters.
The spending also included the rail and airport security projects and the repair of school buildings, he said.
The budget deficit reached P193 billion in the first half, 27 percent below program. Revenues reached P1.4 trillion, overshooting the target by P105.7 billion.
