MANILA - The maker of the redesigned Nokia 3310 on Tuesday warned consumers against fake versions of the popular handset.

Counterfeit Nokia 3310 handsets have been spotted in retail stores and online shops across the country, said Finnish company HMD Global.

"HMD is sending out a clear message not to purchase these counterfeit phones and alerting consumers that such devices do not have the genuine brand and quality consumers love from Nokia phones," the company said in a statement.

The revamped Nokia 3310 went on sale in the Philippines last June while Android smartphones Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 became available in July.
