MANILA -- PhilWeb is "not opposed" to providing its services to offshore gaming companies, its president, Dennis Valdes said Monday.
The company, which recently secured a fresh license to operate, however is not interested in operating as a POGO or Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator.
Offshore gaming firms, especially those that serve the Chinese market, have been credited with fueling property demand in the capital.
"We are not opposed to being a service provider for POGO. There are a lot of players servicing China, Malaysia and Indonesia," Valdes said.
PhilWeb is "having discussions" with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp about providing its services to offshore gaming firms.
Valdes said he was hopeful that under new management, PhilWeb will return to profit this year.
PhilWeb revenues grew 165 percent in the January to June period and cut its losses to P16.4 million from P68.9 million during the same comparable period last year. -- Warren de Guzman, ABS-CBN News
