MANILA - The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Saturday placed the Luzon power grid under a red alert status.
The highest power supply alert will be effective from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the NGCP said. The second-highest yellow alert, meanwhile, will be in effect from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The NGCP said the declaration is due to low level operating reserves, as seven power plants are encountering problems.
These are the Kalayaan, Malaya U1 and 2, GN Power 1, Calaca 2, Pagbilao 2, and Sual 2 power plants. - report from Alvin Elchico, ABS-CBN News
