MANILA - Philippine Airlines on Monday confirmed the appointment of Gilbert F. Santa Maria as its new president and chief operating officer following the retirement of Jaime Bautista.
PAL's board unanimously approved Santa Maria's appointment during a board meeting held Monday. He was handpicked by PAL chairman and CEO Lucio Tan.
"I call on all PAL executives and staff to support Gilbert Santa Maria. Let's work together and help him face PAL's many challenges," Tan said.
Santa Maria said it would be a privilege to serve the flag carrier.
The newly appointed president has 3 decades of executive management and leadership experience across multiple industries, the airline said.
Santa Maria was the former COO of the US-based BPO company Ibex Global.
