MANILA -- President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday offered a salute to the country's gaming regulator for delivering billions of pesos in revenue to state coffers, as he praised government owned and controlled corporations for shaping up.
Collections from GOCCs reached P61 billion, including P16 billion from Pagcor or the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp, the President said in his fourth State of the Nation Address.
"My salute to Andrea Domingo," Duterte said, addressing the Pagcor chairperson. He added in jest: "Magpasugal ka pa ng marami (Encourage more gaming)."
"Our GOCCs, infamous for high salaries and bonuses being paid for their executives and employees have started to shape up," he said.
