MANILA—The National Telecommunications Commission on Thursday cut down interconnection rates for calls and text messages.

In a memorandum signed on Thursday, the NTC said interconnection charges would be reduced to P0.50 per minute for calls, and P0.05 for text messages.

The new rates will take effect 15 days after the memorandum is published in newspapers and copies sent to the University of the Philippines Law Center, the NTC said.

The previous interconnection rates were P2.50 per minute for calls and P0.15 for texts.
