MANILA - The proposed Makati subway will have a station near the planned Metro Manila subway so that passengers from one railway can easily transfer to the other, Makati Mayor Abigail Binay said on Wednesday.

Binay said that the Makati subway, which was proposed by listed firm IRC Properties, will not have a common station with the Metro Manila subway but passengers will still be able to walk from one railway to another.

"Hindi siya nakadugtong pero yung pinaka ruta will take into consideration yung possible areas... yung pwedeng parang tatawid... yung stop, tatawid ka lang para magpalit ng train," Binay said in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo.

She added that the Makati subway will run from Ayala Avenue, Ospital ng Makati, Circuit Mall, City Hall and Pembo, circling the country's financial capital.

A section of the railway will also run parallel to the Pasig River, she said. Makati also plans to build parks on top of the subway stations.

IRC Allied earlier told the stock exchange that Greenland Holdings, Jiangsu Provincial Construction Group, Kwan On Holdings, MingTu Investment Holdings and China Harbour Engineering Construction "signified their intention" to join the consortium that would build the subway.
