MANILA - Logistics provider LBC Express Inc on Saturday announced a halt in its cargo services from July 12 to 16 to clear backlogs after reaching its capacity.

The courier company said it recently opened 3 new warehouses to ensure physical distancing among its employees and protect them from the threat of COVID-19.

"While putting all these safety and logistics measures in place, our capacities were exceeded and have created some backlogs," LBC said in an advisory.

"We highly prioritize the service levels we provide our customers as well as the health and safety not only of our customers but most importantly our employees."

All domestic cargo in the NCR, North Luzon and South Luzon will be affected by the interruption. Domestic cargo to Luzon for customers in the Visayas and Mindanao will also be temporarily halted.

While it will not accept shipments for 5 days, its money remittance and bill payment services will remain available to customers at all of its 1,500 branches nationwide and through its online platform.

The company, which has been operational since the government in mid-March imposed lockdown measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19, is expected to resume normal operations on July 17.

"We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. Rest assured, we are doing this to keep moving for you, with everyone's health and safety as our priority," LBC said.
