MANILA -- The government is planning to build a low-cost terminal near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 3.

Transportation Secretary Jun Abaya explained the plan will maximize the use of the area adjacent to NAIA-3 and enable the airport to accommodate more flights.

He said the low-cost terminal will cater to both local and international flights of domestic airlines such as Cebu Pacific and Zest Air.

"Terminal 3 is really designed for a 13-million... foreign-passenger airport. Obviously, you need more space," Abaya told ANC.

"To maximize Terminal 3, we will build a low cost terminal next to Terminal 3 and bring all the domestic airlines to that area," he continued. -- ANC
