MANILA - Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla has formally turned over his post to Undersecretary Zenaida Monsada who is now Department of Energy chief in acting capacity.
Monsada's appointment papers came out yesterday signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa.
In his turnover speech, Petilla asked DOE employees to continue supporting Monsada in carrying out DOE's programs.
He said he recommended Monsada as OIC and not any more appoint someone permanent since the new secretary will only serve in less than a year before the new administration takes over.
Monsada, a career official who has been with the DOE for 30 years, said she never thought the day would come when she will become DOE secretary even in an acting capacity.
